Plant Manager - Major Construction Projects (Ireland)
A leading building contractor is seeking a commercially driven, strategic Plant Manager to take full ownership of its Plant Department, supporting large-scale projects across Ireland and the UK.
You will manage the efficient delivery, utilisation, and commercial performance of all plant, equipment, fleet, and site‑service resources, ensuring projects are mobilised on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Plant Department and contribute to strategic planning.
- Plan and manage plant and logistics for project mobilisation/demobilisation (cranes, cabins, telehandlers, surveying kit, etc.).
- Oversee owned and hired plant,Skills & Experience maintenance, repairs, asset lifecycle, and buy-vs-hire decisions.
- Manage and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring value, reliability, and safety.
- Control fleet, transport logistics, fuel cards, toll tags, insurance valuations, and RSA compliance.
Skills & Experience
- Strong operational planning and coordination skills.
- Deep knowledge of plant, equipment, and fleet management in construction.
- Proven commercial acumen: budgets, rate negotiations, and cost-benefit analysis.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and supplier relationship skills.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
